This slide shows a nonlinear stringer bending-torsion buckling mode from STAGS for the same optimized shell displayed in the previous slide.
This stringer bending-torsion buckling mode can be used as a second imperfection shape in a subsequent STAGS execution with use of the same model for static nonlinear equilibrium with step-wise increasing applied load. The first buckling modal imperfection shape can be that displayed in the previous slide.
Use of the two buckling modal imperfection shapes, general buckling and stringer bending-torsion, allow the subsequent STAGS nonlinear equilibrium analysis to capture both types of nonlinear behavior as the applied load is increased.
