YPLATE(1) is the radius from the axis of revolution to the shell reference surface at the bottom of the BIGBOSOR4 model shown in Figs. A2b, 20 and 27. Notice the very fine scale on the horizontal axis. This extreme design sensitivity leads to very large behavioral constraint gradients, especially those for general buckling (BUKSYM and BUKASY; See Table6 for very high constraint gradients from the optimized design of a different specific case: “mich1”.). Large behavioral constraint gradients cause difficulty in the search for a “global” optimum design.
