Evolution of the objective during an execution of the PANDA2 processor, SUPEOPT

Fig. 13 from the 1996 enhancements paper. This slide shows weight of the panel during execution of SUPEROPT for the truss-core panel with the new cross-section geometry.

Each “spike” in the plot corresponds to a new “starting” design obtained randomly by the PANDA2 processor called AUTOCHANGE. Six PANDAOPTs per AUTOCHANGE were specified for the execution of SUPEROPT.

The purpose of SUPEROPT is to find a "global" optimum design.
