Buckled axially compressed externally stringer-stiffened short aluminum cylindrical shell

There appears to be one axial half-wave in the general buckling pattern of this short shell. This is catastrophic failure, showing local buckling of the external stringers at the midlength of the short cylindrical shell. This type of local stringer buckling is not exhibited in the next slide but is exhibited to a lesser degree two slides hence.
