Axisymmetrically imperfect cylindrical shell and equipment for measuring the profile of the imperfect generators

This and the next four slides show results from test and theory on axially compressed cylindrical shells with manufactured axisymmetric initial imperfections that vary sinusoidally in the axial direction.

Here we see one of the axisymmetrically imperfect cylindrical shells with a probe and electronic equipment used for obtaining profiles of the deliberately manufactured axisymmetric imperfection profiles along several generators.
