This is Fig. 77 from the 1982 decade paper. This slide shows axisymmetric pre-buckling deflections of half of the football-shaped shell with increasing external pressure:
(a) The effect of weld cool-down is included in the BOSOR5 analysis.
(b) the axisymmetric deformation at external pressure, p = 4100 psi, predicted with and without the effect of weld cool-down.
