EXAMPLE 1, Slide 1: Statement of the problem

This and the next several slides pertain to EXAMPLE 1: minimum-weight design of an elastic, isotropic, rectangular, simply-supported flat plate under three loadings applied separately as three different environments.

The names of the decision variables for optimization, established by the GENOPT USER, are thickness, THICK; length, LENGTH and width, WIDTH.

The purpose of this simple example is to demonstrate how GENOPT works.
