Two types of GENOPT user, 1 the GENOPT user and 2. the End user

The "GENOPT USER":

Suppose a potential user of GENOPT already has technical information relating to the solution of a particular problem. This technical information might be, for example, a computer program and/or one or more subroutines that predict the behavior (e.g. stress, buckling, vibration, etc.) of something subjected to one or more environments (e.g. loads). In order to obtain an optimum design this potential user ordinarily runs his computer program over and over again in order to determine the best (optimum) design. GENOPT helps this potential user automatically to convert his existing analysis capability into a user-friendly optimization capability. The role of the "GENOPT USER" is to create this user-friendly optimization capability to solve some generic class of problem.

The "END USER":

The END USER uses the generic capability created by the GENOPT USER to optimize specific cases that belong to the generic class.
