BIOGRAPHY AND CAREER:
Professor Viktor Andreevich Bazhenov was born on July 12, 1941 in Gorodnya of Chernihiv region, Ukraine.
EDUCATION:
Graduated from the Kyiv Civil Engineering Institute (Construction department), Ukraine, 1963.
PhD (Structural Mechanics), Kyiv Civil Engineering Institute, 1969.
Dr. Techn. Sciences (Mechanics of Deformable Solids), Kyiv Civil Engineering Institute, Ukraine, 1984.
Professor of Structural Mechanics, 1987.
Awarded the title of Academician of the Ukraine National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, Ukraine, 2010.
Works at the Kyiv Civil Engineering Institute (now Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture /KNUCA/) since 1986.
Supervised for 22 PhD and 8 DSc researches.
POSITIONS at the KNUCA:
Vice-rector on scientific work (since 1986 – till 1988),
First vice-rector (since 1988 – till 2015),
Head of the Chair of Structural Mechanics (since 1989 – till present),
Director of Scientific Research Institute of Structural Mechanics (since1992 – till present).
HONORS AND ACTIVITIES:
Member of the Ukraine National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences (2010).
Honored Scientist and Technician of Ukraine (1992).
Laureate of the Ukraine State prize in science and technology (1991 and 2003).
Laureate of the Ukraine State prize in education (2013).
Deputy Chairman of the Ukraine National Committee on theoretical and applied mechanics (1993).

Ukraine State Order “For merits”, 3nd degree (2000)
Ukraine State Order “For merits”, 2nd degree (2006)

MAIN RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Structural mechanics; theory and methods of numerical investigations of nonlinear deformation, stability and fracture of inhomogeneous shells, thin-walled and massive structures.
PAPERS for 2017:
Above 500 publications, including more than 32 monographs, 37 textbooks and manuals.
