2007 Notice of the departure of René de Borst from the Technical University of Delft

26 February 2007 by M&C

Professor René de Borst has accepted the position of Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TU Eindhoven. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate René on this appointment.

The new Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of TU Eindhoven is a winner of the prestigious Spinoza Award and he is an internationally respected Delft scientist. Since joining TU Delft, René has always demonstrated a high degree of involvement with the university in his many capacities. And not only with the university as a whole, but also with difficult matters such as the Delft research portfolio. His organisational talents and concern for his fellow scientists, combined with his university professorship, are evidence that he is a scrupulous and involved member of the Delft community.

He has meant a great deal to our faculty as the faculty’s research portfolio holder, deputy dean and professor. He has been an inspiration for young scientific researchers and for the faculty’s managing board. René has had an impressive career as a scientist. His many awards and the outstanding assessment of his work by the scientific community attest to this fact. He is well known as a stimulating and engaging professor.

The appointment of René is an important step for the 3TU framework. It is a signal of success for the three technical universities, especially when considered from the perspective of developments in 3TU context and the importance of cooperation, focus and size for the three universities.

René’s appointment will commence on 1 May. We would like to wish René good luck in his new position!
