I have been "dabbling" in the shell buckling field since about 1964. By far most of my career at Lockheed (now Lockheed Martin) was spent working on shell buckling problems, with emphasis on buckling of shells of revolution. During the early years of my career I was much inspired by my colleagues, Bo Almroth, Jorgen Skogh, Frank Brogan, and others.

Since my "retirement" in 1994 I have been concentrating on optimization of stiffened composite panels (PANDA2) and optimization of shells of revolution and prismatic shells via a combination of something called "GENOPT" and something called "BIGBOSOR4". GENOPT is a system by means of which anything can be optimized, and BIGBOSOR4 is the successor to BOSOR4, a program for buckling of complex segmented and branched shells of revolution that can accommodate many more shell segments than the old BOSOR4 program.

You can download all of my "shell buckling" computer programs from the "downloads" page of this website. There is no charge.

Now I spend much of my time doing "research" (very applied) in the shell buckling field as a hobby. I'm always looking for a new shell buckling problem to solve, so please send me a problem (especially a problem that involves optimization of axisymmetric shells or optimization of prismatic shells). If I am interested in that problem I will attempt to solve it for you pro bono, provided the project is not classified or proprietary and I am completely free to publish.

In my "retirement" I especially enjoy cooking and eating vegan meals, hiking with my family, reading, and listening in the middle of the night to radio talk shows of any political stripe.
