Arthur Leissa obtained his PhD in 1958 in the Ohio State University.

The activities Professor Leissa is involved in are:
vibrations of plates
effects of corner singularities
shallow shell vibrations
three-dimensional vibrations of bodies of revolution
laminated composite structural elements
buckling and post-buckling of composite plates

Professor Leissa is a member of the American Academy of Mechanics (over which he presided in 1987-88) and ASME. Since 1993, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Applied Mechanics Reviews.
