Biography:
Dr. Mesut Simsek was born in Bursa, Turkey in 1976. He received his BSc degree in Civil Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), his MSc degree in Structural Engineering from Yildiz Technical University (YTU) and his PhD degree in Structural Mechanics from YTU in 1998, 2001, 2008, respectively. He worked as a project and site engineer in the industry from 2000-2003, and then he joined Civil Engineering Department of YTU in June 2003. From 2003-2008, he was a Research Assistant in YTU, from 2009-2011 he served as an Assistant Prof. in YTU. He has been Associate Prof. in Civil Engineering Department of YTU since 2011. His current research interests are vibration, moving load problems, different beam theories, functionally graded materials, micro and nanomechanics, nonlocal elasticity theory, retrofitting of historical structures.
