PANDA2-optimized weights versus major stringer spacing for cylindrical shells with and without sub-stiffeners

This is Fig. 20 from the 2005 substiff paper. This slide shows results from PANDA2 models: optimized perfect cylindrical shells with and without sub-stiffeners.

Notice that the minimum weight is not significantly reduced in models with sub-stiffeners. However, when sub-stiffeners are present the spacing of the major stringers can be significantly increased with little sacrifice in weight.
