This is Fig. 30 in the 1997 modejump paper. This slide shows oscillations of the maximum hoop stress at a particular point in the single-module model during the transient phase of the STAGS nonlinear analysis (dynamic mode jump). The callouts, (a – f), refer to the six “snapshots” in the previous slide.

Stress oscillations of this type can lead to local delaminations in a laminated composite panel.
