In 2010 the capability to analyze true prismatic shells was implemented in BIGBOSOR4

The BIGBOSOR4 user executes the branch of BIGBOSOR4 for the analysis of true prismatic shells by including the string, "ixprism" at the end of the first record, which is the title of the case. Whenever the BIGBOSOR4 user does this, the second record in the BIGBOSOR4 input file must be the axial length of the true prismatic shell.

The number of trigonometric waves, which for ordinary shells of revolution is the number of circumferential waves, is now the number of axial half-waves along the length of the true prismatic shell.

The next several slides show examples of prismatic thin-walled structures optimized by GENOPT with BIGBOSOR4 as the structural analyzer.
