Fig. 17 Optimized “twoskirt” configuration, Load Case 2: STAGS prediction of nonlinear bifurcation buckling of (A) the aft skirt and (B) the forward skirt from a finite element model that includes the entire tank/skirt system. The predictions from STAGS are in excellent agreement with those from the PANDA-type predictions [4].
The ingredients of the PANDA-type prediction for buckling of the aft skirt at circumferential coordinate, theta = 90 degrees, are listed in Table 6 and in the previous slide. The ingredients of the PANDA-type prediction for buckling of the forward skirt at theta = 90 degrees are similar.
