Optimization of the tee-stiffened panel shown in the previous slide

This is Fig. 5 from the 1991 teestiffened paper. This slide shows panel weight (in pounds) versus design iterations during 10 successive executions of the PANDA2 processor, PANDAOPT. Spacing between the stringers, b, is held at 8 inches.

IQUICK=1 means "use closed form (PANDA-type) analysis"; IQUICK=0 means "use the discretized single-module model". FSLOC is the factor of safety for local buckling. If FSLOC < 1.0 local buckling is permitted at a load below the design load.

The 1991 teestiffened paper was written before the PANDA2 processor called SUPEROPT existed.

Now the PANDA2 user would give the command, SUPEROPT, instead of repeated PANDAOPT commands.

Also, now the PANDA2 user can give the command, SUPERDUPEROPT, which executes SUPEROPT in a loop.
