Purposes of GENOPT

Suppose a potential user of GENOPT already has technical information relating to the solution of a particular problem. This technical information might be, for example, a computer program and/or one or more subroutines that predict the behavior (e.g. stress, buckling, vibration, etc.) of something subjected to one or more environments (e.g. loads). In order to obtain an optimum design this potential user ordinarily runs his computer program over and over again in order to determine the best (optimum) design.

GENOPT helps this potential user automatically to convert his existing analysis capability into a user-friendly optimization capability.
