This is Fig. 28 from the 2012 GENOPT paper. This slide shows the weight of optimized spherical balloons made of fictitious carbon fiber cloth as a function of the number of modules over 90 degrees of meridian.
The fictitious carbon fiber cloth is much stiffer and much stronger than the polyethylene terephthalate, the material the balloons are made of that lead to the results shown in the previous two slides.Therefore, the optimized balloons made of fictitious carbon fiber cloth weigh much less (by a factor of about 20) than those made of polyethylene terephthalate.
