Professor Zhiping Qiu

Biography:
Qiu Zhiping (1962.2—) is currently a full professor and PhD advisor in school of Aeronautic Science and Engineering at Beihang University. He received the PhD degree from Jilin University in 1994. After completing his PhD, he was a postdoctoral research associate at Dalian University of Technology, working with Academician Gengdong Cheng. In 1999, he was a recipient of Humboldt Foundation. His research is also supported by China National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.
His scientific work spans a wide variety of topics, including computational solid mechanics, aero-elasticity mechanics, random vibration, structural reliability and optimization design, durability and damage tolerance design, non-linear problems in mechanics, intelligent material structure and composites mechanics, etc.
His scientific discoveries have been summarized and published in five books, and more than 140 SCI papers are also accepted by famous international journals with the citation of over 1000 times by SCI. Six academicians from US National Academy of Sciences, European Academy of Sciences, etc., seven academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and over ten fellows of ASCE/ASME/IEEE/AAM have cited and highly evaluated the work of the project achievers.
Professor Qiu undertook more than 40 research projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China, Defense Industrial Technology Development Program, Aeronautical Science Foundation of China and so on. His work has been honored by many awards. He won a second prize of Natural Science Award for Outstanding Achievement in Scientific Research in Higher Institution in 2008, a third prize of Technical Invention Award for National Defense Science and Technology Award in 2016, as well as a number of other academic prizes in his research fields.
