Blade stiffened cylindrical panel under combined axial compression and in-plane shear, Nx and Nxy

This is Fig. 8 from the 1993 postbuckling paper. This slide shows a blade stiffened cylindrical panel, decision variables, and combined in-plane loading, Nx and Nxy.

The panel was optimized under three load sets, each applied separately:

Load Set 1:
axial load, Nx = -3000 lb/in, negative axial bowing with amplitude, -0.1 inch

Load Set 2:
axial load, Nx = -3000 lb/in, positive axial bowing with amplitude = +0.1 inch

Load Set 3: combined Nx, Nxy
axial load, Nx = -1000 lb/in
in-plane shear load, Nxy = +1000 lb/in
no initial axial bowing.
