STAGS sub-domain model of a PANDA2-optimized perfect cylindrical shell under combined loads, Nx, Ny, Nxy, p

This is Fig. 1 from the 2005 substiff paper. This slide shows a STAGS sub-domain model created by the PANDA2 processor called "STAGSUNIT".

This STAGS sub-domain model is used for the prediction of local and inter-ring buckling. The sub-domain includes 1 major ring bay x 3 major stringer bays.

The case name = testax4p ("p" for "perfect shell"). The perfect shell has been optimized by PANDA2.

Shown here is bifurcation buckling mode 1, STAGS buckling load factor, Pcr = 0.98903. Pcr = 1.0 is the design load.
