This is Fig. 4 from the original 1974 BOSOR4 user's manual entitled "BOSOR4: Program for stress, buckling and vibration of complex shells of revolution", in Structural Mechanics Software Series - Vol. 1, Edited by Nicholas Perrone and Walter Pilkey, University Press of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, 1977, pp. 11 - 143. (The Vol. 1 was published three years after the original BOSOR4 user's manual was completed in 1974.)
This and the next two slides are from that same user's manual.
This is Fig. 4 (page 16) of that user's manual. This slide shows a schematic of an axisymmetric cryogenic cooler to be analyzed by BOSOR4/BIGBOSOR4. Only the part of this complex shell of revolution on the right-hand side of the axis of revolution is displayed in this slide.
The next slide shows the shell segment numbering and the discretization corresponding to the configuration shown here.
