"Mountains, Mountains, Mountains" by Becca Hess

Becca Hess writes:
" Folded mountains form when two plates collide head on, closely related to a convergent plate boundary."

"Examples: Hamalayan Mountains, Zagros Mountains, Andes Mountains,
Alps"

The folds (buckles) form when the subducted sedimentary rock is in its molten state. Later the folded rocks are thrust upward and tilted during mountain building, and the folds created in the originally soft state are preserved in the now rig Later still, erosion of the exposed, rigid folded and tilted rocks occurs over long periods of time, gradually wearing away portions of the folds.
